Safety Instructions

WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, serious injury, or death: Do not allow children to operate or play with the appliance; supervise near children. Use polarized plug only; reverse if it doesn't fit, and contact electrician if needed. Do not immerse cord, plugs, or machine in water. Never carry by cord; grasp plug to disconnect. Do not let cord hang over edges or touch hot surfaces. Do not use outdoors or for anything other than intended use. Place on clean, dry, level surface; away from burners or ovens. Do not touch hot surfaces; use handles. Do not touch warming plate during use; wait to cool. Do not operate without water or with well water (use filtered tap water). Do not add water if STAY WARM is on. Always place 12-cup carafe with lid under brew basket. Do not reach over unit during brewing (steam hazard). Do not set hot carafe on wet/cold surfaces. Do not use cracked/scratched carafe or one with loose handle. Do not drink directly from carafe (may be very hot). Return carafe if removed during brewing to prevent spills. Never open brew basket during use. Do not remove carafe during clean cycle. Ensure carafe is empty before cycles to avoid overflow. Do not brew without carafe in place. Scalding may occur if lid removed during brewing.

Installation

Place on dry, clean, level surface near 120V outlet. Wash removable parts in warm soapy water or dishwasher top rack. For first use: Fill reservoir to 12-cup line with water, assemble brew basket (no grounds), place empty carafe, select Classic, press Brew to run priming cycle; discard water. Repeat for second cycle. Set clock after priming.

  1. Plug into grounded 120V, 60Hz outlet.
  2. Run two water-only priming cycles; discard water.
  3. Set clock: Press Power, adjust with Hour/Minute buttons.

Filter Usage

Use #4 cone paper filter or permanent gold-tone filter (one only). Insert into removable filter holder in brew basket. Add medium-ground coffee per measurement chart (1 scoop = 1 tbsp). Rinse permanent filter after each use; do not use fine grounds to avoid clogging.

CAUTION! Seat paper filter firmly; fold edges if needed. Do not combine filters.

Brewing Coffee

  1. Lift reservoir, fill to desired line (do not exceed 12-cup).
  2. Insert filter into holder, add grounds per chart, place in brew basket.
  3. Lock brew-through lid on empty carafe, position under basket.
  4. Select Classic or Rich; press Small Batch if ≤4 cups; press Brew.

Brew time: ~8-12 min full pot; includes pre-infusion pause. Unit beeps when done.

Care & Cleaning

After each use: Discard grounds/filter, rinse/wash filter holder (soap/water or dishwasher top rack). Wash carafe/lid (soap/water or top rack; soft brush). Empty/wash reservoir (hand or top rack). Wipe exterior with damp cloth. Weekly: Full clean.

WARNING! Unplug before cleaning; allow to cool. No abrasives on carafe.

Descaling

If brew >12-15 min: Fill reservoir to 12-cup with descaling solution or 16 oz. vinegar + water. Place empty carafe; press Clean (~25-35 min cycle). Rinse: Fill with fresh water, run Classic full cycle (Small Batch off), discard.

  2. Press Clean; wait for beeps.
  3. Rinse with water cycle.
